Thailand Overview

Background:

HIVQUAL-Thailand, known as HIVQUAL-T, was implemented as a pilot program in 2003 with 12 hospitals, and now extends to 700 hospitals across 76 provinces, and includes a pediatric program in 200 hospitals across 30 provinces.

HIVQUAL-T began with 6 core indicators. For performance measurement, the Team developed both paper abstract forms and a customized version of the HIVQUAL software.

QI initiatives were implemented following the initial data collection and analysis, such as improved HIV database systems and increased education for providers and patients on the importance of specific aspects of clinical care.

HIVQUAL-T is now fully integrated into the Thai healthcare system.
